Invitation

We cordialy invite for The International Scientific Conference “Forests in Science, Practice and Education”, which is organised on the occasion of the first centenary of the Faculty of Forestry in Warsaw.

The conference aims to (i) look at the path that forestry and forests went through the last 100 years, (ii) assess the current state of forest science, education and management, (iii) as well as to discuss the future challenges for forest practice and science at local, regional and global scale under observed socio-environmental changes. The main topics, that we would like to address and discuss during the conference include:

  • Silvicultural concepts across diverse climate zones and their implications for stand structure and dynamics (co-organised by CARE4C research consortium)
  • Forest use and engineering – challenges and society expectations
  • Current and future threats to forests
  • Biodiversity in forest ecosystems
  • Perspectives in forest education
  • Forests products and services – planning and implementation

The conference will be held between 18 and 19 June, 2019 on the campus of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences–SGGW.

We would like also to invite you to participate in the pre- and post-conference excursions that will take place in Forest Experimental Station in Rogów (16-18 June) and one of the most famous lowland forest in Europe – the Białowieża Forest (19-22 June).
